A Tribute to Fr. Barta

Fr. Barta served as chaplain for Troop 105 and Pack 105 of St Anthony's Parish in Menomonee Falls.  He organized and directed many pilgrimages and retreats.  He designed a commerative badge for each of these events.  His scouting units earned several national unit recognitions endorsed by Pope Paul VI.  He worked diligently to foster and promote the Ad Altare Dei emblem program.

Fr. Barta was awarded the St. George emblem for his outstanding dedication to the Catholic Scouting program in 1973.  He furthered his great contribution to the Boy Scouts of America by serving as Chaplain for the Potawatomi Area Council from 1969 - 1979, and as State Chaplain  from 1972 to 1976.  In 1978 Fr. Barta was given the "Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans" Award in recognition of past achievements and outstanding service to the community, state and nation.

The Catholic Boy Scouts of America will always be grateful to Almighty God who graded the priesthood of Fr. Wayne Joseph Barta with a caring spirit and dedication for our cause and mission.  A great priest and Chaplain, Fr. Barta led us with fidelity in the teachings and practices of and practices of the Roman Catholic Church - giving a real dignity to all of the Catholic Boy Scouts he served.
